frequently Asked Questions (fAQ)

How does of All Trades (oAT) operate as a company?
of All Trades (oAT) is a different type of company. We think about teams and organizational structure differently,  and our work is guided by our operating principles.

initiative Through Contribution 🤝
We act with initiative. We lead with curiosity and surface ideas early, continuously moving the work forward through our own impact or by empowering others.
improvement Through Collaboration 🤜🤛
We believe in continuous growth of ourselves, our systems, and our way of working, building with intention, connecting contributors, and creating structures that help us get better together.
care With Consistency 🔂
We approach work with emotional intelligence, showing up consistently with authenticity, reliability and intention, knowing that care is what turns output into ownership and builds trust that lasts.
How is oAT different from hiring an employee, a freelancer, or an agency?
Employees add depth but require time and runway (recruiting, onboarding, benefits). Freelancers/agencies add capacity but often create management overhead and siloed work. oAT embeds one or more generalist operators who operate across functions, reduce coordination costs, and build durable systems while you learn who, or which role you actually need to hire next. We’re your operating partner through multiple stages, not a one‑off vendor.
What functions do your generalist operators cover?
Generalist operators are multifunctional human operators who cover more than one function simultaneously. Our ability to cover more than one function at the same time is what makes our model dynamic as well as gives founders more impact across the organization. We thrive across contexts, adapt fast, and handle ambiguity without slowing down.

Whether you're building go-to-market motion, standing up support workflows, or shaping internal systems, our generalist operators bring the range, curiosity, and executional depth to figure it out and get it done. If it’s a priority, we’ll cover it—and make it better.
What outcomes can I expect?
A pragmatic V1 → V2 path: we stand up the first working version, gather proof, then level it up.

Leverage across functions (e.g., stand up customer success onboarding while building GTM ops and hiring playbooks, build operating systems for non profits).

Runway preserved: less headcount growth while still shipping faster.

Cleaner handoffs: when it’s time for a specialist or FTE, you inherit docs, systems, and a clear job spec informed by real work.
How do engagements with oAT work?
We embed as integral, not fractional team members. Our generalist operators joins standups, async rituals, and 1:1s, and acts as an extension of your team. Most engagements start with one generalist operator and later flex to more as needs evolve. We handle resourcing and knowledge transfer behind the scenes so you don’t have to.
How is pricing structured?
Flat‑fee, outcome‑oriented. We can do what the outcome requires without tracking hours, while ensuring that we’re aligned to your working style so you feel like we’re not external but truly part of the team. Fees are right‑sized to your budgets and aligned to the experience level of the embedded generalist operator(s).

Our flat fee pricing is based on three variables: skill, scope, and speed. More on that here.
How do you decide when to use humans vs. AI/automation?
We are AI-first, which means we want every human on the team doing their best and most aligned work. We integrate AI and automation to augment, not replace, humans. We design the function with a human‑in‑the‑loop first, then layer automation to multiply output (e.g., customer support triage, data hygiene).
How do you ensure quality across generalist operators?
We’re a company of generalist operators, not a marketplace. Generalist operators share playbooks, review each other’s work, and participate in internal oAT rituals. You get one point of contact with the strength of a whole bench.
What’s not a fit for oAT?
You need a niche specialist from day one (e.g., SEO specialist, Hubspot administrative specialist).

You want hours‑for‑tasks micromanagement (we operate on outcomes and trust with clear accountability).
How do we get started?
Book time with us so we can learn more about your teams needs. We cocreate our engagements with the leaders and founders we serve. We can’t wait to hear about where you’re at and how we can dynamically scale your impact and effort!
